Find Buried Treasures in a Sandbox Filled with One Million Pennies !!
EVENT DETAILS
The TCF Penny Frenzy - a fun and educational treasure hunt for children of all ages - will be held during the Star Tribune Beach Bash near Thomas Beach of Lake Calhoun on Sunday, July 25 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. One million pennies will be delivered by armored truck to the south shore of Lake Calhoun to create a giant penny-filled sandbox.
The first 2,000 children will receive a free TCF Penny Frenzy Piggy Bank. Ten thousand pre-selected collector pennies will be mixed within the giant treasure hunt for children and their parents or guardians to collect and save in their souvenir Piggy Banks. A pre-selected amount of specially marked coins will be mixed within the giant treasure hunt that children can hunt for and redeem for fun prizes.

This years' TCF Penny Frenzy introduces the Save a Penny for Charity program. Those who attend may put their pennies and spare change to work by making a donation to the March of Dimes.
There will also be an educational area where children can see and touch the many varieties of pennies from the United States and from all around the world. Books and additional reference materials will be available to anyone who is interested in learning more about the history behind the penny.
